Free tool to see if ChatGPT mentions your brand
Type your brand and what you sell to check your brand mentions in AI answers in about 30 seconds, free and without signup. Two ways to find out. Paste three buyer questions into ChatGPT yourself (2 minutes, prompts below), or let the free checker run them: it reads real AI answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI, Gemini) to the buyer questions closest to your category and shows if you are named, who is named instead, and which pages they read.

How it works
The checker reads the real answers Howseen has already recorded on the buyer questions closest to your category (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI, Gemini), or asks Gemini three buying questions live, then reads each answer for your brand, the brands named instead, and the sites cited.
“OAI-SearchBot is used to surface websites in search results in ChatGPT’s search features.”

Tell us what you sell
Your brand name and your category, in plain words.
We ask an AI assistant like a buyer
Real answers to the buyer questions closest to your category, the way a real customer asks. A snapshot: answers change, which is why the three prompts below are there too.
See who gets named
Mentioned or not, the brands named instead, and the sites the answer relied on.
Check by hand in 2 minutes: 3 prompts for ChatGPT
No tool needed. Open ChatGPT, turn web search on, and paste these three questions one by one with your own category in place of the brackets. They are the same three questions the checker above runs, so you can compare both answers.
Prompt 1
What is the best [your category]?Prompt 2
Which [your category] brands do you recommend?Prompt 3
What are the top [your category] options right now?Example: a brand selling eczema skincare pastes "What is the best eczema skincare?". For each answer, note four things: whether your brand appears at all, in which position, which brands appear instead, and which sites ChatGPT cites under the answer. Run the same prompts again on another day. Answers change between runs, so one check is a snapshot, not a verdict.
Why ChatGPT does not mention you: 3 common causes
When ChatGPT answers with web search on, it searches, reads a handful of pages, and names the brands those pages name. Three things usually stand between your brand and that answer.
Your pages are not readable by AI
A robots.txt rule or a firewall that blocks OAI-SearchBot, or content that only appears after JavaScript runs, leaves ChatGPT with nothing to read on your site. Run the AI crawler checker to see what each bot can access.
Too few third-party pages name you
The answer is built from comparisons, reviews, lists and forum threads. If those pages name your competitors and not you, so does ChatGPT. The query fan-out tool shows which searches and sites sit behind a question, so you know where a mention is missing.
The question is too broad for your brand
On a broad question like "best CRM", answers lean on the brands with the most coverage. A smaller brand gets named on specific questions, "best CRM for a three-person agency", where its pages and reviews are the most relevant. Track the questions your buyers really ask, not only the broad one.

FAQ
Short answers to the questions people ask most before they run the ai visibility checker, based on what the tool actually checks.
Is there a tool to see if ChatGPT mentions your brand?+
Yes. The free checker on this page reads real AI answers to the buyer questions closest to your category and shows whether you are named, who is named instead, and the pages they read. It is a snapshot: answers change, so paste the three prompts above into ChatGPT as well. Howseen tracks ChatGPT itself, plus Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI, every 3 days.
How to check brand mentions in ChatGPT?+
Open ChatGPT, turn web search on, and ask the questions your buyers ask before choosing a product in your category: what is the best X, which X brands do you recommend, what are the top X options right now. Note whether your brand is named, in which position, which brands appear instead, and which sites are cited under the answer. Repeat on another day: answers change between runs.
How can I see brand mentions in ChatGPT without asking by hand?+
ChatGPT has no brand-mentions report. Either you ask and note the answers yourself, or a tool runs the questions for you on a schedule and keeps the history. This page does a one-time run on three questions; Howseen runs 20 to 300 of your buyer questions across up to six AI engines, every 3 days or daily on Business.
How do I monitor ChatGPT brand mentions over time?+
Run the same buyer questions on a fixed schedule and keep every answer, so you see when your brand enters or drops out. By hand, that means a spreadsheet and the same prompts every week. With Howseen, the Starter plan tracks 20 questions on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews every 3 days, Pro tracks 50 on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode every 3 days, and Business runs daily and adds Claude, scanned every 3 days.
What are ChatGPT brand mentions?+
The times ChatGPT names your brand in an answer: as a recommendation, in a comparison, or as a source it cites. Only mentions in answers to questions your buyers actually ask count. A mention when someone types your brand name tells you nothing; a mention on 'best X' or 'which X do you recommend' is what brings you customers.
Which AI answers the questions in this checker?+
Real answers Howseen recorded on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI and Gemini for the closest buyer questions, or Gemini live when none is close. Each engine can answer differently: Howseen tracks each engine separately. Answers change over time, which is why tracking matters.
Why is my competitor named and not me?+
AI assistants build their answer from third-party pages: comparisons, reviews, lists and forums. If those pages mention your competitor and not you, the AI names your competitor. The sources shown in your result are where to start.
How often can I run it?+
Three checks per day, free and without signup. To follow 20 to 300 buyer questions across up to six AI engines, every 3 days or daily on Business, start a 3-day free trial.
